Anton I'm so glad you agreed with many of my points, though the Jungle Book probably isn't the best example when talking about representation ;0)

I think we, as writers, all have a duty to know rather than assume the cultural backgrounds and lived experiences of our characters. Those aspects of their lives inform and shape their courage, ingenuity, humour and relatability as the simple fact is not all feelings and thoughts are shared by all human beings as not all human beings live the same experience.
