When Fire Meets Ice

Holding Back Disconnection and Isolation

At our backs the cold air stirs,
the dark on the outer edges that holds the fears, the unseen, the doubts,
together within our circles we hold that at bay,
lighting fires, pressing together and sharing the warmth and light.

More fractured than ever we move hurriedly,
transporting ourselves from one place to another,
time shortens and the walls between us thicken,
the cold wind pushes us back to our cars and away from each other.

Stop and rest for a moment,
smile and share a heat that comes from connection,
that human gift that thaws our frozen edges,
reminding us we can choose not to be alone.
